Each year, Stone church celebrates Blanket Sunday, shown in this gallery. This year, it fell on the same day we celebrated Back to Church Sunday. In 2015, the sewing group completed 344 adult quilts, 166 children/youth quilts, 33 afghans, 13 scarves and forwarded 14 blankets, 13 spreads, 26 sheets, 19 pillowcases, 3 mattress pads, 2 shams, 2 lap robes, 2 comforters and 20 towels/wash cloths. 10-15 women gather the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month 9:00am-11:30am to assemble and knot the quilts–most sewing is done at home by members and other helpers (spouses, family, friends, etc.). All materials are DONATED. THANK YOU! More hands are needed to help cut patches, assemble, tie knots, & deliver.
The group has been able to help Bell Shelter (York), Hanover Council of Churches, Access (York), Tender Care (Hanover), York Rescue Mission, Church World Service, Red Cross, Salvation Army, Youth Mission Trip, Tanzania Auction and local emergencies.
